SILAT Action Arts! in Rockville MD!

Upcoming workshop: SILAT Action Arts! Join us on July 29th, 2018 from 10AM to 2PM with Kang Kai Lewis, for an introduction to the martial arts used in THE RAID 2!

Starting a summer Tai Chi program at Rice University, open to the public. Come check out a class and start the summer off slowly.

Emergency Self-Defense Seminar

Practical self-defense techniques, movement drills and breath work to help men, women and young adults deal with conflict situations encountered everyday. Open to all levels of experience and styles. HMAA Instructors Jason & Kai will be teaching combative concepts and techniques from Escrima, Tae Kwon Do and Silat.

We will be working on basics of Yiquan: Alignment, Breath, Mind Intent within the Postures, Tai Chi Walking Meditation and introducing Tai Chi Yang Style Form. Open to all styles and levels of experience. Please be courteous and don't hurt your partner, then there will be no one to play with. Agree on rules, ( ex. fixed, restricted, grappling, takedowns), settings (ex. tournament, combative, free style) and overall force before engaging, especially for beginners. Sharing upcoming events, tournaments or workshops is encouraged but no excessive advertising.

Push Hands Session

Our annual Push Hands seminar working on refining our craft in both tournament settings, freestyle play and combat applications. HMAA Instructor Kai is a multiple National Gold Medal Champion in Fixed, Restricted and Moving Push Hands Events. He will be sharing key insights to his training regiment and what works and what doesn't from his experiences. Can be directly translated to standup grappling, wrestling, judo, bjj, etc..

Energetics of Pralaya & Tai Chi with Robert Boustany & Kai Lewis

Robert Boustany and Kai Lewis will lead you through an exploration on finding stillness through standing postures and breath-based movements. The movement process includes qigong and tai chi exercises aimed at clearing stagnant energy and excess tension accumulated in the fascia and acupuncture meridians throughout the year. Participants will create space in order to generate physical and mental vitality and health.
