Denise and Kai offer outreach yoga services to Houston's surrounding community at museums, hospitals, schools, universities community centers and shelters. In addition, Denise and Kai provide researchers and students at MD Anderson health tips to keep mentally sharp and physically agile throughout the day as part of their monthly newsletter in the Mind Body Corner.
They currently teach gentle breath based Yoga at Rice University to faculty, students and alumni, to Cancer Patients post/during/after treatment, caregivers and hospital staff at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital as part of the Integrative Medicine Center Team. They have also both served Houston ISD as Health and Wellness Instructors, bringing yoga-based practices to public schools.
In addition to classes, Denise serves as a Mindfulness and Stress-Relief consultant for non-profit organizations to offer support with trainings and presentations aiming to bring mindfulness practices to under-served public school districts around the country.
Both Denise and Kai received certification in the Pralaya Yoga system under Robert Boustany. Pralaya Yoga was developed specifically to support joint longevity as well as to prevent and speed recuperation from common problems in sports and daily life. The system increases energy over time by relaxing and decompressing the spine as one develops precise muscle balance for functional strength and mobility. Both Denise and Kai also have experience training in Mysore-style Ashtanga at Ashtanga Yoga Houston under Rachel Nystrom for a number of years.
Yoga continues to serve both Denise and Kai independently. Each no longer adheres to one single yoga-system and they, instead, offer themselves a daily practice based on their individual needs for longevity, health and balance.
